 Vidya
Sudha, Sri Ramachandra Learning Centre for Children with Special
Needs was inaugurated by Actor Chiyaan
Vikram on 15th December, 2004. Chiyaan Vikram is the Goodwill
Ambassador of Vidya Sudha & carries our message with
him.
Today we are 3 years old. Vidya Sudha has touched the lives of
many children directly & indirectly. We are working relentlessly
for the betterment of these children, to put a smile on the faces
of the children and their families.
Vidya Sudha was conceived with the aim of helping parents of children
with special needs, do the best for their child. We believe we
have the professional expertise, commitment and infrastructure
to help special children, face the challenges of life positively and with
confidence.
Vidya Sudha has been created by Sri Ramachandra University, one of the largest Healthcare Educational
Institution in Asia. From 1997, Sri Ramachandra Medical College
has an alliance with the Harvard Medical School (Boston). The strength
of nine colleges, about 100 courses, a
multi-specialty with 1500 bed hospital, a special team of doctors
and healthcare professionals who specialize in the care of children

 Vidya
Sudha is a uniquely designed daycare center, where parents
are an integral part of the plan and care process. This
Family-Centred Intervention
Programme requires that
one of the parents (usually the mother) participate in
all the sessions along with the child. Parents can continue
to mentor their child at home, with the learning continuing
beyond the campus.
Vidya Sudha believes that each child has a different aptitude,
potential and need. Therefore, we create an Individualized
Educational Programme (IEP)
for each child. Our low student teacher ratio fosters
a unique environment where each child can blossom and
reach his/her full potential.
Vidya Sudha is an Early Intervention Programme. Medical and psychological research has shown that the
earlier a child is enrolled in a special needs programme,
the greater will be the impact on the overall growth and
development of the child. We have designed this programme
to "catch them young". The number of children
has increased from 4 to 32 since the day it was started.
Vidya Sudha is a holistic programme, where a team of experts
with diverse backgrounds and specialties come together
to provide special children a multidimensional programme
that caters to the overall development of these special
child. The components of our programme include:
- Behavioural Therapy with psychological assessment and
counseling
- Occupational Therapy to help achieve independence in
Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
- Special Education to help overcome intimidation and
develop self confidence
- Speech Therapy to help overcome intimidation and develop
self confidence
- Physiotherapy to help overcome physical disability
