Sri Ramachandra Harvard Learning centre is the fruit of the vision of a great visionary Sri N.V.P. Ramasamy Udayar. He foresaw the great strides of the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute and felt the need for a spacious library to be the backbone of this Institute. The culmination of this vision resulted in the 40000 sq. ft. ambient treasure house.

In the year 1997, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute entered into a historical inter institutional alliance with the Harvard Medical International. Boston, USA. To reminiscence this historical alliance this library was renamed as Sri Ramachandra Harvard Learning Centre.

This central located and easily accessible Harvard Learning Centre is, perhaps, unique in this part of the world. As one enters this centrally air conditioned, well lighted,

fire alarm fitted, esthetically designed and executed library, one gets into an atmosphere for serious intellectual work.

Any member of this University has free access to a rich collection of more than 27000 books, around 450 journals, 3200 thesis and more than 35000 back issues at any time between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on working days and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on holidays. To make it user friendly, books are classified under “Dewey Decimal Classification”.

The modern man’s urge is to get the maximum knowledge in the shortest time with minimum efforts utilizing the modern means. Understanding this maxim, the library provides and facilities the students and the faculty to have free access to more than 800 CD ROMs, DVDs, online journals and internet facility. More than 30 terminals are provided in the internet club.

Audio and video room is present with wide range of CDs and Video is present with wide range of CDs and Video cassettes to learn more effectively. Number of anatomical models is exhibited in the library to enhance student learning. Photo copying facility is available in the library to help the users.

The specially designed Harvard Auditorium and conference room located inside the library is available for multi media presentations, to conduct teleconferences and for international image transfer. Number of national and international conferences and CME programmes are conducted in this auditorium.

This well conceived and developed multifaceted learning centre dedicated to serve the dynamic agenda of this Deemed University will go a long way in shaping its students and the faculty to concretize the prophesy of our Founder Chancellor Sri N.V.P. Ramasamy Udayar, “Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute will commit itself entirely to the advancement of medical education, healthcare and research and will reach a level of excellence in all these fields”.
